The Multitasking Mompreneur

Freep.com:

No one can accuse Sue Nikolovski of having a one-track mind.

It’s more like five or six tracks are running through the head of this 30-year-old Sterling Heights mother who’s recently joined the growing ranks of work-at-home moms.

On one track is Simo, a little locomotive who is soon to be 2 and is always about to derail something. And there is 8-week-old Alex, the tiny caboose whose size is a contradiction to the amount of his needs.

There are also the tracks that carry other family obligations, home chores, a personal life, a weekend job and most recently a business that Nikolovski launched last month.

In starting www.ihomeprojects.com, Nikolovski has become part of a group that’s also been dubbed with the nickname Mompreneur.

It was during the pregnancy with her second son that she acted on a desire to start her own business.

She continued working on her Web site after Alex was born, by researching and coming up with a business plan. Day and night, she would sneak in time for work.

She would make phone calls to sell listings. She would think of ways to make the site better and change it.

“It’s very targeted. … It’s not a national Web site,” she said, so that there are fewer listings to look through, and ideally it’s quicker to use.
