Making the move from a stay-at-home mom to an entrepreneur has been exciting and satisfying for Eve Camezind, of Your Dollar Store with More.
She and her husband Marcel moved to Powell River in 1994. They used to come here camping before and after they had children. He worked globally when they first arrived, earning a living in the technology field that required overseas travel, and she was busy with their three children.
Five years ago Eve, with support from Marcel, entered negotiations to buy Your Dollar Store With More, then located on Barnet Street. “For the first time, we earned income right here in Powell River,” says Eve.
Living in a place like Powell River, Eve and Marcel feel they can actually help, contributing to the community.
“We carry things in my store that people need,” explains Eve. “I believe that merchants have a responsibility to provide customers with as much diversity as we can. We need to be aware of the needs of our community.”
