SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus
From mobile phones to Personal Digital Assistants, the SD (Secure Digital) card has provided a simple and elegant removable storage solution. Using the card isn’t a problem, but getting the contents of the card to your personal computer normally requires third-party hardware. Enter the SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus, which hopes to solve this problem by conveniently changing from an SD card into a USB 2.0 flash drive via folding.
The SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus card is manufactured to be compatible with existing SD card solutions, yet it has an elegant ability to fold, which exposes a set of USB connectors for insertion directly into a USB port. The hinges that allow the card to fold in half are plastic, but feel solid and firm enough to be used many times without damage.
Since you no longer need to connect the card to your computer using a proprietary cable and/or an external USB-driven memory card reader, SanDisk has included a handy keyring to store and protect the Ultra II SD Plus when it isn’t in use.
The Ultra II SD Plus supports write speeds of 9 MB per second (10Mbps coupled with USB 2.0 support), so copying files to and from the card occurs quickly and with ease.
The SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus currently comes in 512 MB and 1,024 MB sizes, with the 512 MB selling from US$79.99 and the 1,024 MB selling from $117.08 online.
