9.08 Gigs Wiped Out By 0.3 Cigs

It’s really not a laughing matter. Perhaps it’s irony instead of humor.

The world’s fastest internet speeds were clocked for 5 hours over an experimental internet line called Internet2. Data travelled at 9.08 Gigs per second across 30,000 kilometers for about 5 hours.

Last Wednesday though, a homeless man’s unfinished cigarette carelessly tossed on an old matress knocked out service on the experimental corridor between New York and Boston. Hopefully it will be restored soon.

Call it 9.08 Gigs Wiped Out By 0.3 Cigs!
