Tricia Mackenzie Is Making Moms Happy

The Darien Times:

Like most parents of young children, Darienite Tricia Mackenzie knows how hard it is to find the time to do even the simplest of tasks, including eat, shower or read the newspaper. Unlike many of them, who are often seen carting the kids around town in worn T-shirts and sweat pants, this mother of four ranging in age from 18 months to 10 manages her hectic schedule in style.

Now, Mackenzie has launched a personal wardrobe consulting business to help other women look and feel their best on a daily basis, whether they are running the office or the household.

“A lot of women think that once they have kids it’s all over for them,” Mackenzie said. “It’s not like that. So I’m here to show them how to put their best foot forward.”

For a one-time consultation fee of $300, Mackenzie will spend up to three hours at a client’s house going through her wardrobe and organizing closets, getting rid of tired and unflattering items and creating outfits from existing pieces. She will also provide a list of items needed to enhance the client’s current wardrobe.

Afterward, Mackenzie will suggest places the client can go to purchase those items or for an additional $75 per hour, she will buy them herself or go shopping with the client.

“It really depends on how they want to use me,” she said, adding that she also does hair and makeup. “I’m merely teaching them how to dress, really. That’s OK. Some people’s talents lie in other places.”
