Trigger Memory Systems Gets National Distributor

EastOregonian.com:

Three mothers started an education-based home business four years ago, and now it’s big enough they’ve garnered a national distributor.

Jennie von Eggers and Marillee Flanagan of Pendleton and Dena Wood of Waitsburg, Wash., run an education-based publishing company called Trigger Memory Systems. The company, now its fourth year, grew out of the women’s home schooling needs.

So far it’s sold more than 11,000 units.

“And we’re just ready to sign on with a national distributor called Appalachia,” von Eggers said, which has 500 stores it provides for.

The young company’s biggest seller is Times Tales, the math teaching program that started it all.

“I just came up with a way to teach my children times tables using mnemonics,” von Eggers said. “They just couldn’t get those upper tables memorized with conventional learning methods, so I made up my own program.”

“All of our products focus on visual and fun ways to learn,” Flanagan said.

When orders came in from school districts, the women adapted it for class rooms, including accessories for overhead projections and the like.

“We’ve adjusted as time went on,” von Eggers said.

And they kept growing. Since its inception, the company has expanded to publishing several creative learning products besides Times Tales, topping more than 11,000 total units sold to stores across the United States, catalogs, public schools and through Internet sites.
