Business Spotlight: Travel With Kj
My Web site works just like the highly advertised travel sites and offers flights, hotels, rental cars, vacation packages, cruises, travel insurance, event tickets, golf tee times and more. The Web site is powered by Travelocity and has competitive prices.
Why did you start this business: As a new stay-at-home mom, I was looking for a business I could do from home. My husband and I (as well as our CPA) know the value of having a home-based business. Another perk is that I, as a referring travel agent, can travel for pennies on the dollar.
What is your advice to other business owners? As the baby boomers retire, the travel business, which is currently a $7 trillion per year industry, is expected to nearly double over the next 10 years. So why not tap into that as a home-based business?
What is the biggest challenge running your business? I am a small home-based business up against the big dogs – Expedia, Orbitz, etc. I’m the underdog, the dark horse, the rookie on the mound. My challenge is to remind everyone to look at my web site when they are comparing prices and shopping for travel.
What is the most rewarding? Living the American dream. I run my own business and call the shots. I can take a day off whenever I want and play with my son Sawyer.
