Internet-Based Company Helps Frugal Moms Live Well For Less

St. James News:

Having a baby is an exciting time for prospective parents, but it can be hard on the family budget. No matter how well you prepare, unexpected expenses are bound to pop up.

Kim Danger, formerly of St. James, parlayed her interest in saving money on baby gear into a full time internet business and career in writing.

After leaving her full-time job to become a stay at home mom, Kim realized she and her husband needed to cut expenses in order to save money. The unexpected challenge of living on less than two full time incomes posed a need for a lifestyle change.

Kim learned to make things herself and realized things can also be saved, reused, and altered. Many things can be handmade, from teething remedies, bibs, and food, to furniture, baby scrapbooks, and toys. One thing she found out that she now shares with other mothers is that expensive swimming diapers can be washed and re-used, instead of being thrown out.

Unable to find a website that encompassed all areas of motherhood and saving money, she began posting her own ideas and tips online.

In 2000 she taught herself web design and began doing research for content. Never thinking that it would become more than a hobby, the website began to take off.

When mommysavers. com was launched that same year, it was a simple site with 20 pages. Today, it receives over three million page views per month and is one of the leading Google pages for money saving tips and stay at home moms. “It is a website dedicated to moms who want to live well for less,” she said.
