Community Coupon Book Is A Family Affair
When Kellie Bartholomew came up with the idea to start her own business, she had several goals: help local schools raise funds, help local businesses gain support and help local families find fun activities in the area.
While the Dacula resident believes all those things will happen when her business launches next fall, she’s already seen another positive outcome: her company — called Family FunBook — has turned into a family work project.
Bartholomew, a mother of three, has had her children involved in the business and believes it’s helped them learn a lot about work ethic.
“I think it’s a great learning experience when you see mom take something from the ground and get it up and running,” Bartholomew said.
The kids, ranging from ages 10 to 14, have helped her do everything from filing documents to creating PowerPoint presentations to giving creative input on aspects of the business.
Since the idea for Family FunBook is one that stems from Bartholomew’s involvement in her children’s lives, it’s only fitting they should be a part of the business she’s trying to build.Through her work with organizations, like the PTA at Frank N. Osborne Middle School, Bartholomew realized the need for a fundraiser focused on giving back to the community.
“There just seems to be some growing pains involved with raising funds and we have to do it,” Bartholomew said. “It’s a need.”Bartholomew’s solution is a coupon book she believes could only be done by someone with a strong interest in the local community.
