Mom Sings Her Way To A Dream
Between running a home based business and chauffeuring her son to all the usual after school activities, a Langley mom has been spending her evenings over the past year pursuing a life-long dream. That dream is coming true this month with the release of her CD, Tunes in a paper bag.
“I’ve missed a lot of PAC meetings and dinners with the family over the last 12 months,” said Marian Buechert of Walnut Grove. “My husband would arrive home from work, I’d give him a hug and a kiss, grab my music, and dash out the door for a rehearsal or a studio session.”
Buechert’s love for singing was sparked when she was a child.
“In primary school, the other kids would bring their favourite toy or book for show and tell. I got up and sang Snoopy’s Christmas by the Royal Guardsmen.
My childhood was filled with 60s pop singles on 45 rpm records from my big sister’s collection.
In her teen years, she look a liking to opera and musicals and would play soundtrack recordings over and over again, singing all the parts to shows like Camelot and Jesus Christ Superstar.
However, she never really considered singing in public.
It took a friend who happened to be a musician to finally convince her to take herself seriously.
Soon after, Buechert began taking voice lessons and found she developed enough confidence in herself to try performing.
