Family Manager Grows

The Dallas Morning News:

For 19 years, Kathy Peel has made it her mission to add standard operating procedures to the business of running a home.

“Moms need help,” says the 56-year-old founder and chief executive of Dallas-based Family Manager Inc. “Nobody stands at the altar and says: ‘I do, and I will create a chaotic home and make everyone miserable.’ But life happens. Moms don’t have time to stop and figure it out. The need never goes away. It’s like death and taxes.”

She’s known as “America’s Family Manager.” And there’s more demand for her help than she can handle.

So she’s cloning herself.

By this time next year, Ms. Peel hopes to have nearly 1,000 certified makeover coaches reshaping the way American households operate.

So far, 170 have enrolled in her online “university,” paying $500 to learn how to help mothers (and sometimes dads) help themselves.

“Yes, we’re trying to make money,” says Ms. Peel, who operates out of her Dallas home. “But we’re also trying to change lives.”

You may have caught Ms. Peel, a multitasking mother of three grown sons, on Oprah, Today, Good Morning America, National Public Radio or hundreds of other appearances on radio and television.

Then again, you may be a complete stranger to her concepts of applying business strategies to operate a smoother home.

Either way, you probably didn’t know that she’s enterprise personified.
