Seven Legged Lamb, Hold The Pickles!
This 7 legged hermaphrodite lamb in Nwe Zealand with polymelia (a birth defect involving limbs where the affected individual has more than the usual number of limbs) would probably be put down by vets after discovering that a part of of its bowel is missing and thereafter was unable to pass feces.
Polymelia is rare among both humans and animals. Veterinarian Steve Williams who suggested the lamb to be euthanized believed that an error during embryo formation had caused to the lamb’s 7 legged dilemma. This is a condition that occurs once in several million sheep and there is another case of a lamb with six legs in Belgium as well reported last year.
