Baby Service Gives Mom Quality Time

Lower Hudson Online:

With many Westchester families needing two working adults just to make ends meet, finding the time to set up a nursery and surf the Internet for the best midwives is a challenge.

With this idea in mind Vera Kessler started Nursery 101, a baby consulting business that serves the Lower Hudson Valley and parts of Fairfield, Conn.

Her business, which began in July, provides personalized services so that tired and busy moms and moms-to-be can focus on their babies.

Nursery 101 offers to clean and organize nurseries with toxic-free cleaning supplies so mothers can get the most out of their space and stay organized, Kessler said. The price for this service begins at $155. The charge includes two weeks of follow-up questions by e-mail, if needed.

Other services include writing thank-you notes to gift-givers, providing parenting resources and advice on the best baby products and practitioners in the area.

Like other moms, Kessler said she was too tired and sick from her pregnancy to prepare for her baby, who was born last winter. As the first of her friends to have a baby and with family far away, help wasn’t readily available to Kessler.

As a result, when the baby arrived, she wasn’t fully prepared, and her stress level escalated.

“I don’t want other mothers to go through what I went through,” Kessler said.
