Augusta Chronicle:

Of more than 1,000 entrants, David Jones and his Club Caddy advanced to the final round of five inventors.

After a week of fan voting, Jones won the competition with 30 percent of the popular vote - six percent ahead of the Hill Shot Golf Trainer, a sloped hitting tee invented by Larry Koch and his daughter, Brandi.

Jones invested $40,000 into the Club Caddy, a clip that allows a club - or clubs - to stand upright. He invented the product to save golfers from bending over and having to pick up wet or dirty clubs around the green.

Jones will receive the grand prize, which includes shelf space at Golfsmith stores for one year, a fully-developed infomercial and $50,000 worth of commercial and promotional air time on The Golf Channel.

He said there’s no timetable for getting his product up and running, but he plans to have a finalized product ready before Christmas.
