Riverside/Brookfield Landmark:

For most of us, baggage claim in an airport is, well, baggage claim in an airport, simply (or at least we hope so-see lost luggage horror stories) the requisite last stop between eating macadamia nuts on the plane and safely heading home.

Riverside entrepreneur Rebecca Wilson views the ramp differently. With fashion week recently celebrating the 2007 fall collections in New York, Wilson has displayed some serious joie de vivre doing her best to transform the luggage carousel into a catwalk as well, adding brilliant splashes of color and design to travel gear tags since her business, YourBagTag.com, launched in October of 2006.

“I’ve had a selling business and been known around [Riverside] for working on fleece things like hats, mittens, blankets and jackets,” Wilson said. “One day, a lady said ‘I have an idea,’ and asked me if I would make luggage tags for Christmas gifts.”

From those four most essential words in any business, “I have an idea,” Wilson has cranked up her sewing machine simply doing something she loves, and along the profitable way, discovered a successful, niche Internet-based business.

Of course, behind any great woman often comes a great family and Wilson is no exception. Her husband, Steve, created and maintains the www.yourbagtag.com web site while the Wilson’s two sons, Alexander and Bradley, offer support and help produce the tags at times.

“First and foremost, I’m a mom and a wife,” said Wilson, who has been married for 18 years. “Steve is my biggest fan. He handles the website and marketing, and I make the tags. He’s enjoying watching the business grow and really is so creative with the web.”

The cumulative creative talents of the Wilson clan, who have lived in Riverside for five years, has ensured a high quality, highly creative product that consumers are clearly enjoying.
