Storybookkitz Storycards Helps Parents Encourage Reading
A unique product from mother, author, entrepreneur Janelle Ray will bring families and children together in a new way. With the release of StoryBookkitz into the marketplace, parents can give their young ones snippets of books with colorful cards, placed under the pillow, into the lunch box, alongside an afternoon snack, that will encourage them to read through brief, character-enticing stories told card by card, like the panel of a cartoon.
“I wanted to pass along my lifelong love of reading and learning to my three children,” said Ray, a graduate of Texas Tech University, who developed this unique learning invention. “I created the storylines and characters from handwritten notes I added to their lunches. Seeing my son and daughter’s anticipation for the next part of the story each day and hearing them tell the story back to me was quite positive. The stories are meant to be light and funny, but they also serve as a springboard for discussion when the child comes home from school as they share their thoughts on the cards. By dropping a panel into a child’s lunchbox each morning, for example, the parent is not only reminding their child they are thinking of them, but also reinforcing that reading can be fun.”
