Now that he’s retired from teaching and coaching at Devils Lake High School, Myron Loberg will have more time to devote to his pet project – EZ Step Inc.
It’s an ongoing effort to develop and market a device that is designed to improve mobility and quality of life for people with physical handicaps.
“I got the idea from my cousin whose mother was having all sorts of trouble getting around because of arthritis in her knees and hips,’’ Loberg says. “I made a wooden box and stuck it on a wooden cane for her and it seemed to work pretty good.’’
After adjustments, fine tuning, refinements and improvements to that inital ‘box and cane’, a light, versatile metalic device has emerged with a box and cane that weighs less than two pounds.
Loberg has taken his present EZ-Step device to shows around the country and is meeting with increasing enthusiasm. It’s possible he may appear on the QVC Television program soon.
