The Woman Behind Robinette Design

I recently had the pleasure to meet the woman who not only runs Robinette Design, but the crocheted products that she sells are crocheted by her. Angel is a good example for all the mom’s out there who want to take something they love and turn it into a business.

What inspired you to start Robinette Design?

My inspiration to start Robinette Design came from my passion to crochet and then later the need to contribute to our household income.

How did you come up with your business name?

The name from my business stems from my last name! Robinette. I was going to use my first name, Angel, but thought my last name was unique enough to stand out and there wouldn’t be any other Robinette Design companies out there. I chose to use Design because all of the items I make are designed by me. I don’t use any patterns from out side sources.

How long did it take you to go from business idea to a running business? How long has Robinette Design been online for?

I taught myself how to crochet 9 years ago and I have been in love with it ever since. I was always told that I should sell them so FINALLY a few months ago I decided to start my WAHM business to try and help bring in some extra money for our family.

Robinette Design has only been up and running since May. I am happy to report that sales are steadily rising. But I am always happy to get more business! :)

I know you primarily make blankets, but do you make any other types of crocheted products?

I do make many types of items. I am very excited to expand my website. I look forward to adding scarves, hats, mittens for all ages in the next few weeks. I will also add rugs, Christmas stockings and wash clothes!

How do you find the time to work on your crocheted creations between being a wife and a mom?

I am lucky that my husband is very supportive of my business and doesn’t mind too much if the dishes sit in the sink a little too long. I mostly crochet when my son, Greyson, is napping or in bed for the night. We also do a lot of driving so I can get a lot of work done in the car. (My husband driving of course! lol)

Do you have any advice for other moms out there that are looking to start their own online business?

My advice to future WAHM’s is to believe you can do it! Believe that you are worth it and you deserve to turn your passion into your business. Surround yourself with supportive people who will cheer you on all the way. If I can do it, so can you!
