Dad Invents Extra Hand
Jeff Archambault needed another hand.
As a stay-at-home dad during the day, he had his hands full with a newborn and toddler in her terrible twos, who demanded his attention.
When it came time to give a bottle to baby Ryan, he would have to quit reading or playing games with his older daughter, Emma, because the feeding took both hands.
After he was unable to find a product that would help him, he created his own. It’s called the Baby Butler Hands Free Bottle Holder. It’s a blanket with an adjustable Velcro strap on it that holds a bottle in place.
One end of the blanket goes over the shoulder and is held in place by a weighted pillow. Parents are left with a free hand to talk on the phone, maneuver a computer mouse or read a book.
“You are still holding the baby in one hand. There is just something besides your hand holding the bottle. So you are still bonding with the baby,” said Julene Wolf, who oversees sales and marketing.
Commercial sales have just begun, and after attending several trade shows, including the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas earlier this month, Archambault has seen interest from retailers around the world.
