With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many people will be washing and stuffing turkeys, raw meat laden with bacteria. And with all of the other holiday preparations in the kitchen, chefs risk cross contamination.

But Gary Turell has a solution. Working in his cluttered shop, filled with numerous ongoing projects, he came up with the Foot Faucet.

Despite the name, it’s not a sink or bath for feet. Rather it’s a device that hooks up to the kitchen sink in any house, adding foot pedals to the bottom of the cabinet. A simple touch with a bare toe or foot on the prongs and you have running water without touching the faucet handle.

A cook, Turell came up with the idea about five years ago, thinking of convenience and a way to prevent cross contamination in the kitchen. He started tinkering with industrial foot pedals attached to plywood and molds of various designs.
