Swingin’ Santa Finds Singing’s Big Business
Here’s one Santa who sings for his snack.Professional Santa Jonathan Meath, a Cambridge television producer, has released a holiday CD that he hopes will have nice boys and girls rocking around the Christmas tree.
“People started calling me Santa during the holidays and it started to evolve,” said Meath, who became a professional St. Nick four years ago. He’s always had a soft spot for the jolly gent.
Meath’s whiskers, which he has worn for 25 years, had already gone white, and his wife purchased a Santa suit on eBay.
“It’s not a costume, it’s my business suit,” Meath said.
He will be wearing the suit in his next local public appearance on Friday at Swing City in Newton with the Beantown Swing Orchestra, singing some of the tunes on his CD, “Santa JG Swings,” released last month. This will be Meath’s first performance singing swing music as Santa.
