Call me old fashioned, but I remember a time when people were coming up with creative ways to rid themselves of the deluge of free AOL disks.
But apparently, if you travel in the right circles (my money is on eccentric billionaires with far to much free time and extra space in their giant fortress-like mansions), $4,995 is quite the bargain for a floppy of AOL 1.0 for the Mac.

Some people just have too much money to waste their money on! Although I know people that will spend a fortune on Windows 3.1 disks! (I believe there were 8 of them!)

Um, hate to point this out, but the auction ended on the 17th…with no bidders. Not surprising. Pretty sure I could find 3 or 4 of those if I dug into some boxes of old XT parts….
