If you’re a mom and you’re looking to work from home then Lisa Paredes just might be your best friend. A work at home mom herself, she has recently started a website that is an online resource guide for working from home. Membership is free, so any mom looking for information on starting a home business or internet-based business can find the information they need without having to pay for it.

What was your inspiration for MommyEmpire.com?

I would have to say that the inspiration for MommyEmpire.com is a combination of three things.

1. I dedicated the site to my mother who is the biggest role model in my life. She is a huge inspiration to me and has taught me to be a strong woman.

2. I wanted to create a site that I wish I came across when I was looking to work from home.

3. The site is dedicated to ALL moms who have a dream to build a home business.

As a full time mom, how do you find the time to fit in work to your schedule?

It is challenging to be the very best mom I can be while running a business online. I find what works best for me is to work online when the kids are asleep. Sometimes I will jump online during the day for a couple of minutes to check on things.

How long did it take you to get MommyEmpire.com set up and ready to be launched?

I started to slowly build MommyEmpire.com in late October 2006 as a side project. It was only a couple of months ago that I began to shift more of my focus to the site.

Have you learned anything new since the launch of your website?

Yes! I could have launched the site months ago but it took me selling one site and putting other projects I was working on aside so that I could focus more on MommyEmpire.com. The site truly is a work in progress and will continue to improve and grow over time.

What type of advice would you give to any mom looking to start her own home business?

- Definitely start a business that interests you greatly. Money shouldn’t be your only motivation. It should be a combination of passion with purpose. With passion and purpose you will feel fulfilled and happy in your business life.

- Research the market you are interested in.

- Create a business plan. Write down goals you have for your business and what direction you would like to see it go.

- Create a checklist of what it takes to get your business up and running and launched. Start eliminating the tasks on your list by outsourcing most of the tasks.

- Don’t join any money making programs as the business you are starting should be your ONLY focus.

- Listen to your instincts and stay positive.

- Don’t let the word “fear” stop you from achieving your business goals. It is wise if you never feed your mind with self doubt and fear of failure. Be your biggest fan. Be fearless!

- Be a doer and not just a planner. It makes no sense to have a list without taking any steps to complete them.

- Know that there will be no one to tell you when to work on your business and what days to take off. You must be self disciplined and focused on your goals.

- Have fun with your business!
