I’m in Opportunity World Magazine

Hello readers from Opportunity World.

My very popular, but controversial, post 20 Things Not to Do Before Starting a Business is in the February 2008 issue of Opportunity World.

I’m also now a regular contributor to that magazine, so I’ll have a column in there monthly.

Congratulations Dane! I love every aspect of this site. You provide such a “great” service here. Looking forward to reading your monthly column in Opportunity World! Hard work pays off doesn’t it? I am a writer myself, but no luck like yours!

Very good reading, Dane. Thanks! I agree with most of the points, but not with 11, 12 and 16. I believe that creating a logo and a unique name for your company is branding which is needed in competition. I need partners to do the work with me, and because I cannot pay them yet, my only choice is to give percentages of my company. If we together can make the business 100 time bigger than me alone, the result is that our shares have higher value. I need partners to make my business bigger.

Dane, my Congratulations for your appearance in real paper!

I strongly agree with your main thought/intend behind your 20 points and that is:
    - to feel the market…really feel it
    - to really starting selling your products or services
    - to experience response of the real market – real customers, who are paying for your product/services

(These are also the points, where the most starting businesses fail.)

Nice article. I don’t agree with the business checking account though, now you can get a business checking account for free at most banks. It helps keep your personal finances separate from your business which helps if the tax man comes. Congratulations on being published.
