My Personal Waiter

Sierra Vista Herald:

The dumb waiter has evolved with one local man’s invention.

Patrick Schmitt has his patent pending for “My Personal Waiter,” a motorized lowering device for kitchen cabinets.

The “waiter” works like an elevator for your dishes or canned foods. With flip of a switch, the shelves are lowered down toward the kitchen counter within the reach of most people.

The idea came to him in 2001 as a better alternative to the step stools his mother-in-law used to reach her cabinet’s high shelves.

“I was worried that she could fall,” he said.

You can find out more about Schmitt’s invention, and see a video of it in action, at SchmittsSpecialtyProducts.com.
