Online entrepreneurs try their best in order to come up with all sorts of complicated approaches when, in fact, they are overlooking the obvious in most cases. Common sense can and will get you far, no matter what kind of a project we are referring to.

Let’s start with the business plan. When elaborating it, common sense should tell you that providing value to the Web should be your main focus if you are interested in long-term success and that, while there may be loopholes which could bring some short-term profits, thinking long-term is the way to go.

Moving on to the process of content creation, what does common sense tell you? It tells you that others will judge your website and decide if they want to return or not based on the content you provide. It also tells you that, if you want them to return on a regular basis, you have to provide quality content on a regular basis, the concept is really as simple as that.

What about website promotion, what does common sense tell you? First of all, it should tell you to only start promoting once you actually have something to promote. Is your website a useful resource? If so then yes, you should definitely do your best in order to spread the word but, on the other hand, if that is not the case, I am afraid that it’s back to the drawing board.

Aside from that, you should also have the common sense to realize that it’s all a matter of trial & error, and the same concept applies to website monetization. You need to try as many different methods on for size as possible and, based on the results you are experiencing, sticking with what works best and dropping everything else is the name of the game. Is a certain advertising campaign or monetization method working out great for you? Then by all means, stick with it until you find something better but if not, then letting go and looking into promising alternatives is the way to go.

Of course, you should also do your best in order to always bring innovation to the market you plan on approaching, but you definitely have to make sure that you are on top of the basics first. More than a few projects end up as failures as a result of the fact that the online entrepreneur in question did not add common sense to the equation.

Do you want to learn how to run in this industry? That’s a great attitude, but you have to take things one step at a time and start with learning how to walk since otherwise, your experience will definitely not be what one would call pleasant. We can refer to elaborating a business plan, creating content as well as website promotion and monetization and, no matter from what perspective we choose to view the situation and no matter what our strategy may be, common sense is an important factor which you cannot afford to neglect.
