Observer-Dispatch:

Bret Snyder had a tough time finding couture dresses for his wife’s miniature pincher Nicolina.

There weren’t many stores for dog specialty wear, so Snyder brought it all together in his one-stop Web site, nicolinaballerina.com, a boutique that sells dog couture wear and accessories.

“The pet industry is the fastest growing industry. Everybody is buying stuff for their dogs,” Snyder said. “It was a good business to break into online.”

And now his business is booming. After three months, nicolinaballerina.com already has many customers from places such as Washington, D.C., Miami and Los Angeles. A Minneapolis woman bought three coats by Chien Coature, a designer label, for $500 each for her dogs.

Snyder has a day job and works on the Web site in the evenings. The Snyders don’t have inventory, but order from designers who specialize in dog couture wear. Most orders are made-to-order, Snyder said.
