Being “green isn’t always easy or cheap. That leaves many environmentally minded people conflicted. “I wanna do the right thing,” explains Jeff Burns, owner of the company Renewable Energy Resources.
Burns believes solar panels are the perfect solution. He recently installed a solar array on the roof of a Nampa eye care office. It’s the largest solar array in the city of Nampa. Even on cloudy days, they still help power the building.
“We’re still getting UV rays here,” says Jensen Eye Associates co-owner Johanna Jensen. “Even though we don’t get as many on a cloudy day, we’re still making 20-percent of what we make on a bright sunny day.”
It’s just one way Jensen has “greened” up her business. Many other businesses want to do the same. Because of that, a Boise company called META will soon launch a workshop to help business owners save money and go green at the same time.
Still many business owners worry about financial impacts. They need only talk to Jensen for assurances. She also installed solar panels at her home and saw big savings.
“This time last year my power bill was forty bucks at home,” says Jensen. “This year…I it’s six.”
