Business owners Doug and Michele Upton knew there had to be a less expensive, high quality alternative to silkscreen printing the T-shirts they sold.
The fruit of their search for that alternative is the basis of the print-on-demand T-shirt cafe they’ve opened in the Haywood Mall.
You Teez Me uses digital and ink jet technology to produce personalized statements, photos, sonograms, and other custom or stock designs on T-shirts in a matter of minutes.
It’s a “print-on-demand” cafe, where “you come in, get it done, and walk out the door,” Mrs. Upton said. “Group stuff may require a day or two days, but we pride ourselves on quick turnaround.”
“It’s a different concept. It’s a whole different niche of supplying shirts,” Upton said.
The company designs shirts for school bands, sports groups, businesses, summer camps, family reunions, tour groups, and organizations, as well as individuals wanting something just for fun.
There are five artists creating new designs all the time, Upton said. Customers can also create their own designs online or at one of the store’s “creation stations”.
