Mom Gets Creative With Onesies

Sometimes it amazes me how the inspiration for a business comes to some people. In this case, a business literally just fell in Olivia Omega Logan’s lap.

It all started when she was trying to come up with a unique baby shower gift. So she decided to turn to her sewing skills and ended up personalizing a onesie with the phrase, “made by Angelique & Charlie.” The onesie was such a hit that others attending the baby shower started to request personal orders from her.

Any product that gets immediate feedback like that is bound to be a successful idea. Becoming a part-time mompreneur as well as working a full time job, that soon changed when her son started to have some health problems.

While watching TV, a few weeks into her time as a stay-at-home mom, she saw an episode of Ellen where she mentioned that their Mother’s Day special would be filled with all first-time pregnant mothers in their audience. Sending in a letter and a sample of her shirts, she received a call a few days later from the producers telling her that they wanted to feature her products on the show.

In 3 weeks Olivia managed to build a business from the ground up. Website, manufacturers, everything that she’d need to have a complete business for when the show would air. Baby Candy was born.

The Ellen feature launched her business into overdrive creating a full-time business that she could run from home, make a good income, and raise her children. Although having to build in such short notice was a major risk that could have turned badly, she was lucky enough to have had everything go in a positive way.
