The economy may be struggling nationwide, but that isn’t stopping one entrepreneur from starting her own business in Escanaba.
Cynthia Wakefield opened her coffee shop, Biggby Coffee, nearly two weeks ago in downtown Escanaba. Her goal was to not only serve a great cup of joe, but also to give patrons a great environment in which to enjoy it. The customers seem to love the idea, making her first week unexpectedly busy.
“Usually when something like this opens, it’s sort of a slow burn to build, but we’ve built very quickly,” said owner of Biggby Coffee, Cynthia Wakefield.
She is still going full force and plans on expanding the coffee shop to include an outdoor patio.

I wonder what’s so different about biggby coffee that would make customers like me forget about starbucks or seattles even just for a while.

Considering they started out this business in the peak of an economic crisis, then they should really offer something new to the taste of customers.

I think, if they have managed to be profitable in the time of the economic downturn, they are going to simply flourish in economic upturn.
p.s.
I am also sure they are much more interesting, than ‘boring’ big corporation

curt, I think that your last phrase - it’s the only chance to live in the market. They must be interesting, so interesting, that people standing near them and big coffee network will choose them.
And their are lots of examples. We have got a network called “Coffee house” Absolutely boring and stupid network that is placed on the whole Moscow (like McDonalds). And it is almost empty always. But their are a lot of small coffee shops that dont work as a factory. They live interesting life for their customers. That is their best difference of all this strong corporation!
I can even tell about small cafes that are very interesting. Most of my friends have already forgotten about fast-food. We prefer visiting small cafes.
Besides, I really like “Fridays”. For their design and big cocktails!))

I like having my coffee in a place where i can feel i’m home. I go to starbucks when i’m really running late really need a coffee. But if i have the time, i’d settle for a place where the ambiance is really homey.

Nowadays if you planning to open or already have make sure you have something new or unique to offers… promotions, discounts or whatsoever you think it can attract customers.

yes, i agree with joahn.. base on economy today, and considering the competitors.
