Churchs Chicken

By on May 21, 2008 in Biz Ops / Profiles

It is mentioned in movies and it’s a big staple in the southern states. Churchs Chicken may not be as well known as KFC, but it is definitely one of the more popular fried chicken food chains available.

As a franchise they are continually growing and spreading to new areas. They started franchising in 1972 and have seen much success. In 2005, according to The Franchise Mall, they had 953 total franchises open. That is definitely a long ways from the first Churchs back in ’52.

Not just a place for good southern-style chicken anymore, they have also become known for other great specialties such as their fried okra and their unique honey butter biscuits.

The total investment for a Churchs franchise can be anywhere between $203,000 and $750,000. The franchise fee is around $10 to $15k with a 5% royalty fee. As for the franchise agreement, that lasts for a term of 20 years.

Does it make more sense to start your own place with all that money?
