Have A Gold Party!
As the weakening economy causes purse strings to tighten in many parts of the world, consumers are increasingly looking for new ways to earn some extra money.
Enter My Gold Party, which facilitates Tupperware-style parties that help guests sell their unused trinkets, cashing in on record gold prices.
Launched earlier this year, My Gold Party sells all the equipment minipreneurs need to host parties in which guests can sell their gold, including a scale, karat tester and book of instructions. Party hosts then invite guests to bring gold coins, watches and jewelry to their party, where they assay and weigh each item to determine its current market worth.
The party host pays guests for the items, then ships the gold to a refinery, which in turn pays the host—at a rate the host hopes will be higher than paid to the party guests. The gold is then melted down and reused. My Gold Party’s kit for hosts is priced at USD 699.50. (Obviously, scales and karat testers can also be bought from many other suppliers.)
Consumers in hard times have always been able to sell their spare jewelry in pawn shops, but by bringing the process out of the back alley and into the living room, My Gold Party legitimises and updates it with a social and entrepreneurial twist.

The buying and selling of scrap gold, silver and platinum is going to be HUGE in 2009 and beyond. Consumers need cash. Entrepreneurs need new business ideas. This is a no-brainer.
You can start a brand new “brick-n-mortar” gold buying business or, even better, build it as an Internet business and make money in your shorts!
Buying and selling of scrap gold also makes sense for a business owner looking to add a new profit center as well.

Do you know who I could contact to start having gold parties no one is doing it in my area?

Why simply host a gold party? Learn how to organize and purchase the gold yourself! It’s a fun, highly profitable business. Your only investment is roughly $50 in startup costs and obtaining the knowledge to test gold; you can learn that in a day!

If you feel uncomfortable relying on a “middle man” to tell you how much your gold or jewelry is worth, there are ways to do it yourself if you buy your own gold testers and scales. There are pretty affordable testers to check the value of your gold or jewelry, and you can even have a gold party yourself. It’s a good option if you want to be sure that you’re getting the full value of your scrap gold or jewelry. I actually work for a company called iGem Instruments, http://www.igem.com, and we sell these diamond and gold testing equipment, scales, and even Gold Party Kits. If you choose to buy equipment, make sure you find equipment from a reliable seller. This might be a good way of avoiding a middle man, and it will almost always be a cheaper, more cost-effective way of buying or selling gold and jewelry in businesses, gold parties, or for other reasons. Good luck.

Gold parties have been fantastic for us (www.newyorkgoldrush.com). We have been hosting gold parties and buying events all over the tri-state area and in Florida too. People have been happy, but the competition is getting steeper. I wonder how people will decide which company is most reliable when there are multiple games in town.
Be sure to check out New York Gold Rush.
