Derrick Bristol used to run off screens for silky smooth jumpers. Now he’s silkscreening. The former Science Hill basketball player is owner of Connect Game, Inc., an internet clothing and sports apparel business. A large percentage of his business is derived from dealing with local high schools athletic programs. Bristol said he deals with Dobyns-Bennett, Daniel Boone, David Crockett and Volunteer. He sells basketball teams items such as practice uniforms, warm-ups and sweatshirts. He dealt with Antioch High School when Science Hill alumnus Brien Crowder was coaching there. D-B coach Charlie Morgan was an assistant at Science Hill when Bristol played.
Bristol’s vision came after seeing a lot of upstart internet companies with little more than snazzy advertisting campaigns. He laughs while saying he could’ve been the next Under Armour, a similar company that started after his. (Bristol’s company — connectgame.com — also sells ladies clothes.)
