Norwich Bulletin:

Kate Magoon has lots of good ideas.

One of Magoon’s new ideas led to her being auditioned to appear on a nationally-televised PBS show.

And the Jack Jackter student also received a call about a possible appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno.

Magoon, 9, invented the Perfect Cookie Shaper, which does exactly what its name implies.

The device is an ice cream scooper with a plastic dough shaper attached to its bottom.
The dough is scooped from a bowl and dropped onto a cookie pan using the butoon on its handle.

Then, the scooper is turned over and the dough shaper creates a cookie that, Magoon said, is perfectly sized and shaped.

“You don’t have to use your hands at all,” she said.

The invention was noticed at the statewide Invention Convention in Hartford, which led to Magoon and her dad, Bob, attending auditions for “Everyday Edisons” in Providence early last month.
