Southaven Mom Feels Sense Of Pride With Sticker Business

commercialappeal.com:

When her laundry room and kitchen would no longer do, the garage of Michelle Day Bicknell’s Southaven home became Grand Central Station.

“Never did get a car in the garage,” she said, “so I thought, well, why not?”

Bicknell, you see, is a businesswoman. For more than two years now, Cajun Decals has been the name of her entrepreneurial pride and joy.

“It started because I have kids in ball and I could not find the little decals that went on the back of the car windows,” the 42-year-old mother of five said. “I did my research on the Internet, found out how to make them and that’s kind of how my little business evolved.”

The vinyl decals and lettering have been a hit, especially with DeSoto County’s plethora of youth softball and baseball players. When the bats are finally put away for the summer, it’s time to focus on soccer and football.

“It’s very popular to see them on cars,” said Bicknell, “but you can also see them on banners, yard signs, magnetic signs — most anything with a hard surface. There’s a whole lot of different avenues that you can use these stickers for.”

Fundraisers for schools and churches are her specialty.
