A young Eagle River woman is making her mark in the business world. In Chelsey Homan’s Eagle River home

a plate of goodies greets you on the table. But beware: they may look good, even smell good, but these special treats are really just for dogs. For the past year, 19-year-old Chelsey has been cooking up specialty dog treats in her parent’s kitchen for the business she calls Doggy Decadents.

Chelsey has also expanded her line to include specialty cakes. And yes, they are also just for dogs — although there is nothing in them you couldn’t eat.

Her latest venture is something she calls the Biscuit of the Month Club.

“Every month, everyone who’s a member of my Biscuit of the Month Club, I deliver a pound of fresh gourmet biscuits each month. It’s a different assortment; and now I’m also adding in a special treat,” said Chelsey Homan.

Chelsey says baking, packaging and delivering her treats is keeping her very busy; but she is thrilled the company has started to turn a small profit. She says she’ll invest it back into the business and hope it will continue to grow.Chelsey’s dream is to one day have her own doggie boutique and bakery. But for now, she sells her treats at the Saturday Market and some specialty shops in town.
