No matter where you are, you’ve probably been to or heard of those stuffable animals that your children can dress in any outfit they choose and take home with them. They are fun, lovable and Rita Aceves makes it easy for people in her local community to share in the fun. From fundraisers to birthday parties, she can do it for you.

Although the well-known store does allow parties, Beary Cute Stuffables make it easy for parents to offer parties right in their own home. There is a large variety of animals and outfits to choose from.

If you’re wondering what inspired Rita to create her business, then keep reading. She was kind enough to take the time to answer some questions about her business and her experiences as an entrepreneur.

Where is your business located and in what towns are you available for Beary Cute Parties?

Beary Cute Stuffables is a home-based business in Round Rock, Texas. Our service territory is the Round Rock, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Cedar Park/Leander, and NW Austin areas.

What is your general age range for children?

Most Beary Cute Parties are for children 3 and up, even though we have hosted events for children as young as 1 year old.

What inspired you to start your business?

As a mother of two children, we always strive to offer our children the very best celebration possible. At the time, all I could find were the typical birthday celebrations and I wanted to offer my children an alternative — something creative, fun, and unique! After some research and learning about the huge craze with the “mall store”, I knew that I could offer a similar experience and offer children a more hands-on, creative experience and offer parents a more cost-conscious celebration!

What separates you from your competition?

What separates us from the competition is that our product allows children of all ages to be creative and use their imagination. Our thought is, “why have a machine at the mall have all the fun?” Kids LOVE to know they had a part in creating their own Beary Cute Stuffable! Another aspect that seperates us from the competition is — WE go to YOU! Customers appreciate the fact that they can stay in the comfort of their home and we take the party activity to them! In terms of budget planning, customers are able to control their costs by pre-selecting their party package and avoiding unexpected expenses from party guests at the “mall store”.

When you were looking to start Beary Cute Stuffables, what were some of the steps you had to go through to get you business started?

Some of the basic steps to starting my business was applying for a DBA and a sales tax license. Creating a business plan and building an inventory were very important and crucial in starting my business.

What are some of your more popular stuffables?

Some of our most popular Stuffables are Pinky Bear with the girls and Panda Bear for the boys! One of our most popular outfits are SuperBear and SpiderMan for boys and girls! Girls love the Camo Skater outfit as well!

Where do you see your business in the next 5-10 years?

In the next 5-10 years, with God’s help, I foresee having my own storefront and being able to reach more of our customers in the Austin area.

Why did you decide to take the leap into entrepreneurship?

Prior to launching Beary Cute Stuffables, I had a full-time career in the medical field. When we were blessed with children, my husband and I decided that it was in the best interest of our children for me to stay at home and be available for them. As our children grew, I longed to be able to provide supplemental income for my family but continue to stay at home. Having my own business has allowed me this opportunity.

What are some of the positives and negatives?

Running a business is not easy. It takes time, dedication, and support from family. If you understand that all of these elements are necessary for a successful business, you will find few negatives. Yes, it may take many hours to brainstorm ideas, develop marketing concepts, etc., but that is simply a part of the cost of doing business. I feel privileged and blessed to be able to be a female business owner.

If you could go back in time and change anything, what would it be and why?

I feel that God has laid His plans for my business, and while there have been situations I would have done differently, I consider them growing pains. If you make a mistake, don’t forget the lesson.

How do you bring in the majority of your business?

Along with print advertising, we participate in many local vendor events to advertise our product and services. We offer Beary Cute FUNdraisers to local schools and organizations. Daycare and Girl Scout Workshops are other services we offer as well. Word of mouth is the best tool available! Along with my business, I also organize RRWAHMs (Round Rock Work At Home Moms), a local networking group for female business owners.

Was there any advice that you’ve received and found especially helpful?

Believe in yourself. There will be many ups and downs with your business. At the end of the day, it is not the roadblock that matters but what you do to overcome it.

What advice do you have for others looking to start a business of their own?

My advice to anyone looking to start their own business is…find a product that you believe in and be passionate about it.

This is really a unique and fun idea. Children not only enjoying the party but also learn something from the party. Parents should have to try this kind of celebration.
