The Telegraph:

For Troy Whitworth, the feeling after inventing a new product is like “postpartum depression.”

Whitworth recently finished with his new invention, “a flowerbox for shutters” in which he said the product is “patent pending.”

Whitworth has been in the landscaping business for 25 years as a private contractor with a business called Whitworth Patios and Ponds, but that has never stopped him from seeking new ideas

The invention, Whitworth said, has three parts on the patent. The first part is the actual shutter box. The second is a molded one-piece shutter that comes bolted on and the third is a shutter attachment, which encompasses the entire shutter from top to bottom.

“(The shutter box) is an easy inventive way to get color on your house,” Whitworth said. “They are paintable.”

“To look at this (shutter box), you wouldn’t think this was something big,” Whitworth said of his creation. “The points in between the snippet of the idea and something tangible, it takes you on unexpected travails.”
