Clothes Mentor Open To Buy Before Grand Opening

Waite Park Newsleader:

Last year when Mark Hoon was at a trade show, he came across a new franchise called Clothes Mentor. He liked the concept and, with his wife Barb, opened up their first franchise location in Maple Grove last December. After that store took off, they decided to open up another store in Waite Park.

“We sell women’s sizes 0-26,” Mark Hoon said about the store. “We are a re-sale store so we pay cash for items up front – we are not a consignment store. So if a gal wants to bring in her clothes, we take a look at them and then offer a cash price for those we want to buy.”

In addition to re-selling, Clothes Mentor is also a green concept.

“Our countertops are made of recycled sunflower seeds, all of our hangers we use are recycled,” Hoon said. “It’s more of a green concept as well as getting good deals.”

What sets Clothes Mentor apart from other re-sale stores out there is they are looking for some of the more upscale brands.

“We’re fairly particular on the items we take, we want good stock for the store,” Hoon said. “We’re looking for better brand names, women’s fashions, handbags – Coach, Louis Vuitton, standard handbags. We have a quite extensive handbag selection. Shoes, accessories, jewelry, sunglasses – a lot of different accessories also. And maternity.”

Another huge difference is they pay cash for the inventory they sell.
