Mom's Business Is Inviting
Maricelle Decastro’s South Bay business started as a hobby.
After she married in 1995, guests who liked her homemade wedding invitations asked her if she would make some for them.She did.
After Decastro and her husband started a family, she began making invitations for their children’s birthday parties. Friends and relatives who saw the invitations asked her to make some for their own kids’ special events.
In 2001, Decastro quit her job in customer service for a medical imaging company to spend more time with her children. The following year, she started charging people to make invitations, greeting cards and decorative picture frames.
Last year, Decastro, 46, launched the Web site www.ArtsAndStuff.net, where she promotes and sells her services.
