Herald Sun:

Two companies were honoured for their savvy and unique approach to business at the Telstra Business Awards in Sydney.

Find A Babysitter, an online babysitter and nanny directory, won the national micro-business award, and the Atlantic Group, a Docklands-based catering company, won the national medium business award.

Find A Babysitter netted its gong for being the most outstanding business with five employees or fewer. The Brighton company links up parents with babysitters or nannies using email, SMS, and job postings.

Delia Timms and her husband Jeff Bonnes started the business in 2005 when they struggled to find childcare for their two children.

“It is quite a simple business model but it keeps it very affordable for the parents,” Ms Timms said.

The couple has 6000 babysitters registered across the country and 3000 registered parents.

I was curious, so I went to the website to see if they provide background checks. I’m glad to see that they do require them to be on hand at parents request.

I hope the parents remember to ask because I would hate to see a family end up with someone that offers an iffy background.

Looks like “Find A Babysitter” already established and has awards already so I think if you looking for a nanny or a babysitter you can assure your kids was in good hands but to be sure you should be smart and check before you hired one.

This is a great service for parents everywhere. I know a few couples who have found their babysitter through this type of service and couldn’t be happier. I also know a lady who list her babysitting services with a company like this and has gotten more referrals then she was getting on her own.

Looks nice. I also believe that background check is essential in this kind of service. After all, safety is the biggest concern when hiring a babysitter.
