USA Today:

McDonald’s says its third-quarter profit jumped 11%, beating Wall Street estimates on another quarter of strong sales both overseas and in the U.S.

Fast-food sales have been holding up despite the economic downturn.

McDonald’s, based in Oak Brook, Ill., said that it earned $1.19 billion, or $1.05 per share, the three months ended Sept. 30. That’s up from $1.07 billion, or 89 cents, a year ago.

So, what’s McDonald’s secret?

“The strength of McDonald’s ongoing results is a testament to our multi- dimensional Plan to Win, which features quality food, compelling value at every level of our menu and dependable convenience,” said Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner.

1. Quality food

2. Value

3. Dependable convenience

Skinner continued, “Our dedication to building our business by being better, not just bigger continues to strengthen our global performance.
