‘Sweet' New Business Opens
Get your sweet tooth ready, because there’s a new bakery in town, and they’ve got some real goodies.
Sweetie Cakes, a cake and chocolate shop, has been up and running for two weeks, and owner Naomi McLaughlin has been baking up a storm.“I’ve had a great response,” McLaughlin said.
The military reservist and mother of two does it all at the bakery, from production all the way up to quality control.
“I’ve always loved to bake,” she said.
McLaughlin and her husband did all the work to transform part of their basement into a bakery. Having the bakery in her own home allows McLaughlin to stay close to her kids, who are one and three years old.
She primarily wanted to do wedding cakes and personalized cakes. She’s also gotten into homemade fudge and cupcakes. She even offers a selection of wedding-related items like invitations and place settings, things she couldn’t find in Woodstock for her own wedding.
