Oviedo Cakery Pleases Sweet Tooth With Artistic Touch

Seminole Chronicle:

For Prudence Manolov, it’s about the art; it always has been. When she looks at her latest sweet creation standing magnificiently on the table, she has a sense that beauty will always trump bottom line in the artist’s heart.

Manolov’s latest design, a birthday cake for her daughter shaped like three overstuffed pillows stacked on top of each other, will earn no more than the admiration of her friends and family. Like another special birthday cake – this one a free-standing Cinderella dress with mouse tailors scurrying about – it’s a labor of love. And these labors of love can take about 20 hours to complete.

“What I love most is creating. It’s the best part of what I do,” Manolov said.

Her company, Glass Slipper Cakery, is small, with Manolov handling all the cooking and designing, but this mother of three has dreams of opening up a storefront in the future and exposing what some of her customers have called Oviedo’s best-kept secret to the rest of us.
