Inventor Thinks Outside The (Mail)Box

news10:

It all started when Juan Pineda was a victim of mail theft.

Valuable checks were lost in that theft, but Juan may have the last profitable laugh.

He’s invented a device that sets off an alarm if a mailbox is tampered with. He got a patent for his product and is seeking a manufacturer to handle the production and marketing.

It operates much like a car alarm that begins ringing when a car is bumped. A remote turns off that alarm. A card slider, like the ones used in store checkout lines, would allow a mailman to de-activate the alarm.

“Everyone works hard for a living. They should have peace of mind in regards to their mailbox”, said Pineda.

  • This is a great idea! now if we could only invent a mailbox that can truly withstand pranksters who nail it with a baseball bat then we would have it made!

  • Mail theft is a huge problem lately, and you would never have thought it until it happens to you!

We offer a line of locking mailboxes to protect your incoming mail (much like this article speaks of) … BUT our mailboxes are USPS approved, and can be used anywhere by anyone. If protecting your mail is a top priority, give us a call at (770) 436-6198 or visit us online at http://www.aodmailboxes.com

    thanks!

  • I don’t mind if it wakes me up at 3am as long as it’s a legit tamper issue.

I like this idea…but how can you ensure that the delivery people are honest? I’ve always wondered about that.
