Mom Stitches Up A Business Of Her Own

The MetroWest Daily News:

A mom of four, Tina Hill knows a thing or two about trying to keep kids entertained. The West Newbury woman was on vacation with friends three years ago when she came up with the perfect solution – a kids’ backpack and craft project all in one.

She launched her business, Kidzsack, a year ago. A former fashion designer in New York City, she’s always been creative. She drew out four designs – sea life, sports, castle and jungle themes – and had them screened onto a small, recycled cotton backsack.

After sewing the first 100 herself she partnered with Andrew LeBlanc Company on Jewett Street in Georgetown to manufacture the bags. They are screen printed at Smyth Graphics in Merrimac.

“Finding balance and doing everything is not easy with four kids,” Hill, 43, said, but she makes it work even while billing and setting up accounts. It’s just part of having your own small business, she said.
