“There are certain decorations that individuals should be very cautious about,” said Tab Hunter, franchisor of Mister Sparky America’s On-Time Electrician. “We want to point those out and provide a few general pointers on how to stay safe — so that fires and injuries from decorations don’t interrupt this fun and festive season.”
Securing your home from fire can begin when selecting an artificial tree. Make sure the one you go with is fire-resistant, Hunter said. Same thing with lights: Only purchase lights tested by recognized laboratories, to ensure all safety standards are met.
