Dripstik Inventor Featured On the Today Show

NBC Newschannel 6:

Mecinna Price is a local inventor who has turned a simple idea into a multi-million dollar business. Thursday morning she appeared on the Today show to talk about her invention and get some good advice.

She started her company with an $80,000 loan from her father-in-law and was on the Today show to talk about it. Mecinna Price lives in Pocatello where she runs her successful company “Price Products.” I got the opportunity to talk to her after the show and says it was interesting to see everything that goes into making the Today show.

Mecinna Price, Inventor: “To see how the show works, to see the green room and the production booth and studio, also to see where the fans stand because that is a lot smaller than it looks on TV.”

The segment was almost canceled because the producers were worried that talking about successful businesses in a slowing economy wouldn’t go over well with the viewers. So they decided to bring in a business expert and use it as a way to help the inventors.

Mecinna Price: “As a way of keeping the segment on the show they put on spin on it and asked us to come up with questions for Johnny that would fit within the topic.”

She was also given the opportunity to meet with the other inventors to discuss new ideas and talk about what has worked for them and their business.

  • I don’t know why the show would have been that worried about a successful business to think about cancelling the show all together. one would think that it would do the opposite and provide a light at the end of the tunnel for other’s or a sence of hope that even with the economy the way it is…there is still hope because there are obviously people still out there that are making it work.

  • I agree with Jaclyn. I think if I’m one of the viewer of that show, I will be inspired and be glad that despite of the economic crisis, there are still business that are profitable and successful.

  • I think that goes to show the extent of media bias. Can’t just report the news, but have to put their spin on it.
