Company Scores With Fan Fests
Managing sports fan festivals is proving to be an entrepreneurial slam dunk for Joe Gallagher and his St. Paul-based FILO Productions.
In February, FILO Productions (FILO is an acronym for first in, last out) will help produce the National Basketball Association’s All-Star Jam Session for the seventh consecutive year.
The interactive, 500,000-square-foot fan fest is the centerpiece of a growing lineup of events and mobile-marketing tours the company produces and manages for sports and corporate clients throughout the United States and around the world.
The latest addition is the NBA Jam Van, a 53-foot semi-trailer truck of dunking and shooting contests that hits the road this spring. The company also helps produce fan activities at such events as ESPN the Weekend and the U.S. Open tennis tournament.
FILO Productions expected to end 2008 with close to $3 million in revenue, Gallagher said.

Maybe i shouldn’t be commenting as i am by no means a sports fan. but just the same, it seems like there are so many place where sporting events take place and new one’s going up all the time, and there is so much money spent on sports that it’s beyond ridiculous. with the economy today, there are far better thing’s to build and create revenue other then sports. i just think too much attention is spent on sports and far too much money.
